Kids Learning To Ride Horses

By jewelminer | January 26, 2012

We have places around town that sells swim wear, hockey wear and for various sports around town but not those you need for a kid when they take up horse riding lessons.  There isn’t a horse equipment store nearby and one has to drive 4 hrs to get to the city or may 3.5hrs if you drive really fast.   So when the kid took up horse riding last year - we were left with little choice but to search for the clothing, boots and everything we needed online.

We do have a horse riding ranch but they don’t really carry a lot of things there and had to be ordered online too - so I figured if I were to order them myself - wouldn’t it be cheaper?  So yes, we did just that - search for the horse equipment, riding apparel and also horse tack and found some really good prices for Breeches, Jodhpurs and Jeans for the kids.   Love the riding helmet we bought for both kids, they looked absolutely delightful.

Slumber Party Birthday

By jewelminer | November 21, 2011

So my teenage cousin wants a slumber party birthday on her 18th birthday and wants some  Sierra Designs Sleeping Bags for Christmas.  That girl is a smart one - for she is asking for a good quality sleeping bag - and not just an ordinary one - before her slumber party.  And what better gift to buy for her than something she is going to need and use a lot not only for her slumber party - but during camping for the summer with her grandparents.  So we’ve decided to get her the sleeping bags that she wants - and even though it’s a little more expensive than we had hope to spend - I think it’s worth it - if she is socializing and spending time with her family as well.

Scuba Diving

By jewelminer | November 3, 2011

Learning to scuba dive is in my bucket list - so when I found out on the internet that they had lessons in our local swimming pool - the Y  - i decided to go for it last summer.  The course came with the renting of the tank of oxygen and all other equipments.  Love the diving lessons - just as long as I don’t tangle up the corrugated hose that is on the oxygen tank.  I get really worried when I twist it around - because I don’t want to break it or make it leak - they must be very expensive.  But the diving instructor told me that they are very strong and is almost unbreakable - so that made me feel a lot better.  This summer - we were taken out into the real sea for the real thing and it was pretty exhilarating - something off my bucket list - and for those who’ve never tried scuba diving - give it a try.

Veniz Fireplace

By jewelminer | October 30, 2011

While the rest of the world sells it for $1700 at least - I can buy this on FAB for $830 !  this indoor fireplace - is a bio blaze Veniz Set and burns with bio ethanol.   You can choose to insert it inside a chimney - but most people like myself would place it on a table - and use it for heat and a decoration.  You can even leave it on the floor or have a choice to buy glass separately - and they are heat resistant - so you don’t have to worry about cracking the glass.  It is actually water and very little carbon dioxide used.  Smokeless and odorless but has to be in a ventilated room.  I would love to have one of this in my apartment - if I was single and trying to impress the girls i bring home. Don’t let the spouse hear this though.

Halloween Helmet

By jewelminer | October 25, 2011

While we love our gmax helmets and would never do anything like the above to our helmets - a friend of ours is thinking of doing just that for Halloween with his new girlfriend.  I’ll have to say it’s pretty cool right?  but if I did that to my professional helmet - the wife would probably disown me - for she would say it would frighten the kids - and in some countries it may even be illegal to do that to your helmets - like in Singapore - yes - that’s how strict they are in that country.  But of course, if you wear a gmax helmet in Singapore it’s definitely no problem for it has to be the best fitting helmet one can find in the market.  But like i told the wife - had I been 10 years younger without a kid - I wouldn’t mind doing the paint job on my helmet but not the gmax helmets of course because my gmax already looks awesome.

Adventures On An RV

By jewelminer | October 17, 2011

The things you can do with an RV is almost amazing - and unbelievable - I was WOW by the neighbor’s RV and I’m even thinking I might want one in the near future.  I’ve looked at the inside of his RV and saw what he did with it - and the places he went - I’m definitely tempted.  The neigbor told me that even if I had trouble on the road, he had this rv towing number that I could use anytime and very reliable.

Having an RV would save us a lot of money with accommodation fees - and traveling would be made easier if you are traveling with kids - because you can stop anytime and anywhere there is parking space.  Now I don’t have to get a huge RV because I don’t have a big family - so a medium size RV would just be nice for my family and I, and I won’t have any trouble with driving it.  It really looks like I can get an RV now.

Fancy Wheels

By jewelminer | September 1, 2011

Fancy wheels - that’s what my spouse called them when I wanted some for my car - but we all know that they can get get expensive - so I’m always on a look out for wheels for less because  fancy wheels are really cool looking right?  Now I’m torn in between the red ones and the black ones - both are just as awesome looking and they have it in the size I want too.   There is one that I really like but those are not within my range at this moment  - so I’m waiting for it to be at a right price and I will get that - but my wheels need some work - so I have to get something.   I want them but I don’t need them yet - so I have time to put away money for them.

Digital Recordable Binoculars

By jewelminer | August 9, 2011

I wonder if this would be too high tech for my dad - because he definitely isn’t a gadget guy - but I know he would loved something like that - because he loved the woods and the birds and trees and I know he would love to show them off to some of his internet friends.  But $2000 from Sony is a very steep price to pay for a hobby - but for the avid bird watchers or outdoor type of person - I think they may just like it.  Records up to 3 hrs long - and it has got all sorts of high tech stuff in it.

DIY Pathway

By jewelminer | July 23, 2011

I was thinking of hiring someone to style my pathway - but you all know that hiring someone to do it - can cost a lot.  So when I saw this online - I know that I had to get this - so that we can do it ourselves.  Just using pre-mixed concrete and using the mold that can be purchased for $29.95 - you can DIY!  Remove an inch of the soil before filling in the pre-mix and after about 1 min - move the mold to the next spot and fill it in again.  Pretty cool and need - gonna try it.

New Garage

By jewelminer | July 11, 2011

We have been contemplating about a building a new garage for our cars for the longest time.  Having said that it’s because we have more than one car at home - and during the summer - we don’t use our truck a lot.  Inspired by what we saw by Olympia metal buildings at a neighbor’s place - we thought we should be able to get one build before the summer begin - alas, we didn’t get it done yet.   So when the other neighbor from the other street had his up and going - we had to talk to someone about it.  I heard they have some sale on right now - so we just wrote in and ask for a quote.  I want my garage to look just like the above picture - coz’ it goes with my entire outdoor theme.
