Gamers With Gambling Addiction

By | May 7, 2011

I use to go out with a group of friends who would bet on just about any sports they watch – from football to baseball and even wrestling.  And the bets are not small ones either – and I don’t know how they can bet their entire paycheck on one game and for someone who gambles this way  – going to a casino is a disaster.  People with a gambling addiction not only hurt themselves financially and emotionally – they hurt the people who loved them and eventually – they may even lose their jobs.  Gambling addiction is the same as a drinking problem or a drug abuse problem – I seriously think that people with any kind of addiction needs help – needs someone to talk to.  Unfortunately, not many in that situation realized that they have an illness – if I do see someone who have any kind of addiction – I would most certainly go talk to them about getting help.  Most people won’t because they think it is not their business – but if you love your friends, your son, your daughter, your sister-in-laws or a co-worker – if you care – talk to them – find help for them.

Special Keepsake For The Special Kid

By | March 2, 2011

When my kid was born – a customer who turned into a friend gave her an American silver eagles as a present/token for her birth.   My kid wasn’t even a year old then – but today – we took out the American silver eagles to talk about the coins and do a little bit of history of America.  I really think it is a great gift for any kid and even one that is just going to college.  To me the American silver eagles reminded me to work harder and save enough for the kid’s college fun.   A very thoughtful gift indeed.

Little Big Planet

By | January 25, 2011

The kid and the spouse had been playing this game a lot of late – and yes!  it’s a pretty cool game – the kid was all excited telling our customer about it – and the customer was like in his late 50s – it was a funny sight.

When you first start up the game, your only option will be to hit up the main Story mode. The first three levels (which are the same that were featured in the beta, if you played that) serve as good tutorials for how to play the game. In terms of mechanics, this is about as pure and basic a control setup as you can get. The X button jumps, R1 grabs objects, and that’s about it. If you grab a jetpack, you can either shake the controller or tap one of the face buttons to remove it, but that ends your control mechanics (outside of the editor, of course).

While that sounds simple, and it is, it’s the level design that makes the whole Story progression the fantastic experience that it is. The first set of levels is fairly easy and will look familiar to anyone who’s followed the game at all. The cool thing though is that every other level in the game (of which there are more than 20 “main” levels) is completely unique. Each themed area has three main stages, and while those generally use a lot of the same art assets and look very similar, what you’re doing there in each individual area is very different. The jungle areas have you swinging from monkeys, climbing giraffes and riding on buffaloes. The Metropolis stages have you navigate sewers, hop between subway cars and drag race. There’s a wild west set of levels that rely on plenty of explosives and mine cart rides, and every other section is just as varied (if not more so) than these.  Give the game a try with your kids – i’m sure they will enjoy it as much as ours did.

The kid wanted a lighted globe for christmas and the only one we found was this one from Chapters – but they were outta stock.  Now that it is after Christmas and they have it again in stock – I’m wondering if i should still get this for her at $99.98.  This globe is not lighted but is a teaching, talking globe for younger children. For The Star Wars Fan

By | December 11, 2010

For the love of those Star Wars fan – here is something you can get for them – especially if you want them to help you with the cooking – hhaha!  evil! Here’s a William-Sonoma exclusive for only $12 !  unfortunately, no one in my family is crazy about Star Wars.  But yes, whether you are baking cookies or just using it to flip pancakes – this Star Wars spatula of Darth Vader is a must have – for the Star Wars fan – or the geek at home.  I don’t quite like the stainless steel handle though because of the darn static in the winter.

Hello Kitty Karaoke

By | October 23, 2010

So the kid came home and told us that she wanted the same Hello Kitty Karaoke machine that her classmate has – after returning for a play date. She does love singing and the wife of course – had to go online and look for the karaoke that she wanted – to see if it was affordable to buy.

Having a karaoke home isn’t a bad idea either – after all, we do have her friends coming over all the time and they sometimes get bored playing computer games or console games.  I think girls will always be girls and if singing they want – we will buy one for her.   You never know – she may be the next Canadian Idol! haha!

An All Women Gym

By | September 22, 2010

The spouse asked me to search for an all women gym around town – because she thinks she won’t be so shy amongst other women when it comes to exercising and trying to lose some fats.  Of course, I didn’t agree that she was fat – if i wanted to live to see tomorrow – haha!  But yes !  she was reading up on  weight loss diet pill and said that she needed to do some step aerobics to make losing weight more effective.

So do men have the same problem with gym? do they need to do it in a all men gym?  men are equally conscious even though we don’t say it in front of our girlfriends or wives.  But if we see a well-toned man or woman – we would still be pretty self-conscious – a lot more than the woman I’ll have to tell you that.  But if you are serious about losing the weight – then you just have to take that self – consciousness away – like the spouse – and go do your work out – but remember if you are down with a cold – stay home and don’t faint in the gym – else – you would be the talk of the gym for a long, long time.

New Halo Game Every Year?

By | September 20, 2010

So I read somewhere that there may be new titles for Halo gamers every year? wow!! really?  if that is true – will the game be repetitive?  According to a recent interview with Microsoft Game Studios VP with ICGN – they planned to increase the frequency with which new Halo games goes on the store shelves.

“There’s no explicit strategy that says we’re to ship a Halo game every year,” Spencer told the publication. “I will say I think one Halo game every three years, which was kind of our old cadence, is probably not frequent enough.”

The VP said that waiting too long for update could hart the franchise.  And that instead of having new games only every two years – they are trying something different.  So gamers of Halo – you should be happy now – not every year – but sooner than expected.

Hunting Season In Nova Scotia

By | September 18, 2010

Hunting Season will be here soon ! we just bought the brother-in-law and father-in-law some binoculars and like they say – wear orange when going out!  So we bought them a orange toque as well.  From deer hunting to goose hunting and mostly they hunt for peasants and ducks.

I love duck hunting though – I had a very memorable hunting trip many years ago – with the in-laws and it was very challenging but very fun too.   The children had fun and they had an awesome time with their cousins and no hunting are not only for men – the women in the family comes along too.  The kids are taught how to use the binoculars and spot the goose or ducks.  And the weather didn’t even deter them at all.  I can’t wait for this year’s season to start – we are planning to go with the family again.

New Color For DSI & Lowering Prices

By | September 16, 2010

In early June i read that Nintendo’s DS and DSi will have some new colors this coming September and lowering its prices before the E3 comes out and I was expecting a drop in prices here too.  So I wasn’t surprised to hear that they will be doing the same here too.  So those waiting to get one – should start saving now – $20 less!

The company’s Nintendo DSi will be lowered from $170 to $150 and the DSi XL will go from $190 to $170 starting on September 12, the launch day of Professor Layton and the Unwound Future.

The low-end DS Lite hardware will remain at $130, the price point at which it was launched in June 2006.

In July, Nintendo said it lost $289 million in its first fiscal quarter, blaming a strong yen and a decline in demand for Nintendo DS software.

It also said that it would announce the price and launch date of its next-generation handheld, the Nintendo 3DS, on September 29. Today’s announcement would seem to be in anticipation of this next move.
